Southern Printmakers Association

Founded in 1978, the Southern Printmakers Association is a printmaking group based in southern Sydney, exhibiting regularly, both as a cohesive group and in collaboration with other printmaking organisations. Since our inception we have exhibited across several states in Australia as well as overseas and we actively research and approach different venues in order to bring our work to a wider audience.

Whilst we have no physical base and do not offer workshops on a regular basis we have an effective working relationship with Hazelhurst Gallery & Art Centre in Gymea. In 1995 we were a driving force towards the creation of a working and exhibition space for the arts within the Sutherland Shire, and lending our support to such a facility contributed to the construction of this venue.

Today we continue our relationship with Hazelhurst Gallery & Art Centre, exhibiting there on a semi-regular basis as well as having the benefit of being able to hire one of their studios, at selected times, to pursue individual and group projects.

We encourage members to participate in our exhibitions as well as taking an active part in the running of the organisation. Through our social media outlets we also support and publicize member solo exhibitions, member participation in other printmaking exhibitions, and printmaking awards received.

As members of the Southern Printmakers Association individuals are able to showcase their skills through our exhibitions, collaborations and swaps with other groups, as well as working with others in the group to further their practice.
