Claire Brach

Originally from England, I have lived in several countries including Thailand and Japan, before settling in Australia many years ago. I have been stitching, playing with fabrics, paper, paints and inks from being a small child. These days I find myself fully immersed in print-making and creative artists books and enjoy the constant challenge these bring me.

Linear Containment, artist book: collagraph, linocut & monotype

My primary interest lies in colour, design, composition and construction of unique art pieces. One of my main focuses is to continue to learn and evolve my skills in new creative areas, and I enjoy opportunities to attend seminars, workshops and exhibitions to widen my knowledge base. Formal studying has been a continual part of my adult life as it provides a framework for self-improvement and advancement in my chosen field, and this has provided me with a range of skills across many printmaking techniques.

Brain Clutter, collagraph

Within the field of printmaking I find myself drawn in particular to collagraphs; the building of a matrix surface, exploring tonal variation and placement of components to produce imagery is a constant fascination.
