Carol Shaw

I began Printmaking in 2000 as an additional creative outlet to being a woven textile designer for the commercial interior market.

My printmaking embraces a variety of techniques from photopolymer plates, collagraphs, lino and wood cuts to monotypes and dry point etchings, often combining multiple techniques as well as stitching into the final work.

I am inspired largely by nature, travel, music and the built environment responding to what I see around me be it the mundane, a pattern or the essence of an experience. I exhibit regularly with Southern Printmakers Association as well as the Print Circle and Circle of Five Art, both in Sydney and regional NSW and have collectors in Australia, NZ and the UK.

Born in West Yorkshire in the North of England, I came to Australia in 1994. The Sutherland Shire has been my home since 1996.
