To be held at the Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Arts Centre a 2 day workshop demonstrating and exploring the use of copper sulphate on aluminium plates in etching, this two day workshop will cover the use of the copper sulphate solutions as a safer alternative to the traditional acid used in etching plates. Both line etching and aquatint will be explored.

 Tony Armeneiro was the winner of the National 2007 Fremantle Print Award, and was also twice chosen by the Print Council of Australia as their commissioned print artist. A three time finalist in the Dobell Drawing Prize Art Gallery of NSW (2003 06 and 2012) he was represented in 2005 at the Biennale Jogja VIII in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and more recently selected in the

Information for exhibiting Members.

As of 12:00am 4th August all applications will be closed.

We have 17 artists exhibiting.

We are asking that each exhibitor contributes about 4 hours of their time at the exhibition. Bring along any materials you may wish to discuss.

Install of the the exhibition is already manned sufficiently so no further help here is needed.

Hours for members attendance are;

Tuesday the 14th of August between 1 – 2pm. MEET THE ARTIST

Thursday the 16th of August between 1 – 2pm. MEET THE ARTIST

Saturday the 18th of August between 2 – 4pm  OPENING

Tuesday the 21st of August between 1 –  2pm. MEET THE ARTIST

Thursday the 23rd of August between 1 – 2pm. MEET THE ARTIST

Friday the 24th of August between  7 – 8pm. ARTIST TALK

We would like each participating artist to commit to attending the exhibition at some point. Please reply or send an email to southernprintmakers@gmail.com with the hours you intend to commit.

Those have not yet dropped of their work but have paid their fees and applied must arrange drop of of their work prior to the 11th of August. Labels for the works are being created as we speak so it is important that we have the ‘title of work, medium, and price’ as soon as possible.

To drop your work off please make arrangements with our Exhibitions Officer, Naomi Woodlands – southernprintmakers@gmail.com to deliver to her home.

On the opening night Naomi Woodlands will be our Mistress of Ceremonies, Julianne Smart and Stephanie McCready will be our Sales Team and Ian Scott will be our barman for the event.

Please note that there will be an option to display unframed prints for sale on the opening night only.

If you intend to use this facility please ensure all prints are mounted with a backing board and covered with clear cellophane. Your work should be clearly labelled with:

The finished mounted work should be no smaller that A3 (42 x 30cm) and no larger than (40.7 x 51.0 cm). Smaller works can walk out the door to easily and larger pieces may not fit in the display frame.

Mounting advice: 

Option one

  • A 32 x 40 inch piece of foam core (from Eckersley’s for ~$4)

  • Cut  into 4 pieces of equal size. Each piece therefore has a dimension of 16 x 20 inches. This is equivalent to  ~40.7 x 51.0 cm, give or take a  few millimetres!

  • Use large transparent photo corners to attach the prints to the foam core

  • Wrap each mounted print with a clear cellophane-type film, neatly taped at the back.

    Purchased from Eckersley’s by the metre.

     

Option two

  • mount your print behind matt board (with a window) and secure a backing of either foam core or matt board behind it to match the size.

  • Wrap each mounted print with a clear cellophane-type film, neatly taped at the back.

  • Attach label to cellophane securely with either sticky tape or double sided tape

No commission will be charged on sales.

De-install Information – 27th August.

Works will be available for collection;

  • 10am on Monday the 27th of August from Kogarah Library.
  • All uncollected works will be removed then stored until the next meeting, Saturday the 1st of September at 2pm, Studio 6 Hazelhurst.
  • Alternative arrangements for pick up may be made by emailing southernprintmakers@gmail.com
  • Please note prompt pick up of your work is imperative.
