I have attended printmaking classes at Hazelhurst Gallery for several years now and I recently joined the Southern Printmakers Association.
I live near the Port Hacking river in Southern Sydney and I often use my sketches and personal photographs from my travels and the local surroundings as inspiration for my art prints.
I enjoy the printmaking process and experimenting with the wide range of printing techniques. My favourite techniques are solar plates, collographs and monotypes and I also do linocuts, drypoints and etchings. I also enjoy the sharing and support from fellow artist printmakers at Hazelhurst and the excellent teaching provided by Laura Stark at Hazelhurst print classes.
My approach is expressive and responsive and I like to mix techniques and experiment with multilayering of images and using colours, marks, patterns and textures often in a painterly way. My printmaking journey is usually one of discovery and surprise with often rewarding results (and some lessons learnt as to what not to do next time). Often I produce monoprints or small editions due to my design process.
